Thunder Bay, ON – July 17, 2010 ---- The Thunder Bay Chill's missed chances came back to haunt them, as their sixth game win streak ended Saturday night with a 1-1 draw against the Real Colorado Foxes. The Chapples Park crowd witnessed a Chill team come out flat, and go down a goal in the first half, as Mike Martin latched on to a Josh Fallin pass in the 22nd minute to put the Foxes up 1-0.
In the second half, the Chill carried most of the offense, led by Brandon Swartzendruber who missed countless chances to even the score line. Finally, in the 55th minute, Gustavo Oliviera placed a free kick on to the head of Nolan Intermoia, who glanced the ball into the back of the net. With the score tied at 1-1, the Chill continued to push for the go ahead goal, out shooting the Foxes 21 to 6 overall in the game. However, Foxes goalkeeper Miguel Rosales kept the Chill off the score sheet with several key stops in the final minutes of play.
Chill Head Coach Tony Colistro was disappointed with his teams overall effort. "Mentally we were not focused on the win, and came out flat. They are a good team, and we have to do better." After losing Chill Captain Wilson Neto in Friday nights game, the Chill were bit by the injury bug again as Rafa Heck, William Zardetto, and Miguel Abascal all went off with injuries. The Chill's Anthony Colaizzi and Foxes Kyle Christensen and Isaac Cowles all received yellow cards in the match. Kellan C. Christensen received a red card while on the substitute’s bench for the Foxes.
The Chill now gear up for their final two games of the regular season, as the Rochester Thunder come to Thunder Bay for a two game series. The games will take place on July 23rd, 2010 and July 24th, 2010, both kicking off at 7:30 p.m. EDT at Chapples Park, Thunder Bay.
