LEX Graduates Making Noise

Thunder Bay, Ontario –- November 10, 2010  ---   The Lakehead Express Soccer Club (LEX) graduates Kelsey Tikka (Laurier) wins the ball from Alexis McKinty (Queens) in the OUA Championshipare making their mark at their respective schools soccer seasons this year. Kelsey Tikka and Amanda Mithrush have helped the Sir Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks win the OUA Women’s soccer title in a 1-0 win over Queens. This win sends their team to PEI to represent Ontario for the National CIS title. Tikka was named OUA West Rookie of the year and Second Team All-Star for her stellar defensive skill. She was also named Laurier’s Athlete of the week for Nov.1-7. Mithrush provided solid offensive support by scoring four goals in her first regular season with the Golden Hawks. Portland defeat Chill in Finals

Portland, Oregon – August 7, 2010   ---  The Thunder Bay Chill will have to Chill Midfielder Julius Abegar –  Courtesy of James Mirabellisettle for second place in the 2010 Premier Development League (PDL) Playoffs, as the team fell 4-1 to the Portland Timbers U23 on Saturday night in Portland, Oregon. Italia Juventus Fall to A.E.K London in Ontario Cup Quarterfinals

LONDON, ON ---  August 7, 2010 ---- Thunder Bay Italia Juventus has been Thunder Bay Italia Juventus knocked out of the 2010 Ontario Outdoor Cup, after falling to A.E.K London F.C. 1-0 in the quarter final round of the competition. The game took place Saturday, July 7th, 2010, at the Hellenic Community Centre (Southdale Road Stadium), in London, Ontario.

A goal by Haris Cekic in the 80th minute was all that separated the two teams, who spent the majority of the game locked in a fierce battle. Several players on each team received yellow cards, but Italia Juventus went down a man in the 82nd minute when defenseman Michael Lacaria was shown a straight red card. Despite being down to ten men, Italia Juventus nearly equalized late in the game when Adam Augruso forced the A.E.K. Chill Headed to PDL Championship Finals

THUNDER BAY, ON  ----   August 6, 2010 ----– The Thunder Bay Chill scored Thunder Bay Chilltwo goals in less than two minutes to book their place in the 2010 Premier Development League (PDL) Championship Finals, as they came back from a goal down to defeat the Baton Rouge Capitals 2-1 on Friday evening.  Chill Seek Second PDL Championship Title in Portland

THUNDER BAY, ON ----  August 5, 2010 --– The Thunder Bay Chill travel to PDL ChampionshipsPortland, Oregon, this weekend to take part in the 2010 Premier Development League (PDL) Championship. The schedule is set for Friday-Saturday, August 6-7, 2010, at PGE Park, home of the Portland Timbers U23.

Similar to the Conference Championship, the Chill will be one of four teams taking part in the weekend’s competition. Chill needed extra time to defeat Michigan Bucks


THUNDER BAY, ON ---- July 31, 2010 ---– The Thunder Bay Chill needed Photo Thunder Bay Chill Celebrate – Courtesy of James Mirabelliextra time to defeat the Michigan Bucks, but two goals from striker Brandon Swartzendruber ensures the Chill will be taking part in the 2010 Premier Development League (PDL) Championship weekend.

In what was a very physical match, each team entered the half with several cautions but no goals. After trading several scoring chances in the second half, the Bucks Kenny Uzoigwe scored in the 79th minute to give his team a 1-0 lead. The goal brought the Chill to life, and it did not take the home side long to equalize. Zetroy Robertson headed a pass to Swartzendruber who turned and shot, tying the game in the 83rd minute.  Boys of Summer

THUNDER BAY, ON ----   July 31, 2010 ----  Baseball has taken over the city in recent weeks. While there are several events going on this article is about Jim Huntthe provincial Little League Championships, hosted by the Current River Little League at Thunder Bay’s Waddington Park.

By design or perhaps by accident, our city has some of the best baseball facilities. Waddington Park has five diamonds alone, and the new washroom facilities will be ready about a week after the tournament is done. What makes this all work is the community spirit of the city’s various neighbourhoods and the volunteers, who come out and officiate, man the concessions and do the organizing. Chill Drop Final Game to Thunder 

THUNDER BAY, ON  –---   July 25, 2010 ---  Despite out shooting their opponents twenty to five, the Thunder Bay Chill (12-2-2) lost their final game of the regular season 2-1, to the Rochester Thunder (10-3-3).

Rochester took the lead in the 41st minute, when midfielder Chris Andre scored for the visitors. The Chill equalized in the 54th minute, courtesy of Brandon Swartzendruber. With the strike, Swartzendruber is tied for the league lead in goals with fourteen.  Chill Close out Season at Home

(THUNDER BAY ON --– July 22, 2010  -------  The Thunder Bay Chill (11-1-2) Thunder Bay Chillenter into their last weekend of regular season play with a chance to clinch the Premier Development League (PDL), Heartland Division Title, as  they host the Rochester Thunder (9-2-3) in a two game weekend series. The Chill currently sits atop the standings with 35 points, however; with two victories, the Thunder can snatch the division lead away from the Thunder Bay side.

Chill and Foxes Battle to a Draw

Thunder Bay, ON –  July 17, 2010 ---- The Thunder Bay Chill's missed chances came back to haunt them, as their sixth game win streak ended Chill Vs FoxesSaturday night with a 1-1 draw against the Real Colorado Foxes. The Chapples Park crowd witnessed a Chill team come out flat, and go down a goal in the first half, as Mike Martin latched on to a Josh Fallin pass in the 22nd minute to put the Foxes up 1-0.

In the second half, the Chill carried most of the offense, led by Brandon Swartzendruber who missed countless chances to even the score line. Ontario Cup Men’s Soccer Returns to Thunder Bay

Thunder Bay, Ontario ---  July 9, 2010 ----   The Thunder Bay Italia Juventus Soccer Club and the Premier Soccer League of Thunder Bay are excited to announce the return of Ontario Cup soccer to Thunder Bay. Brampton FC will be traveling to Thunder Bay this weekend to face-off against Juventus in the third round of the 2010 Ontario Cup Men’s Division.

The game will take place on Saturday, July 10th, at Chapples Park 4, kicking-off at 4:00 p.m. (EDT) The two teams will be facing elimination on Saturday, as the loser will be knocked out of the competition.  Chill Earn Fourth Straight Win

Liberty, MO – July 1, 2010 --- Andrew Marinez scored the only goal for the Thunder Bay ChillThunder Bay Chill in a 1-0 win over the Kansas City Brass.

Marinez who scored in the 12 minute for the Chill, recently returned from serving a one match ban  to power the Chill to their fourth win in a row on their recent road trip. Chill Handed First Loss Sunday

THUNDER BAY, ON   ---  June 6, 2010  ---   The Chill finished their three Thunder Bay Chillgame road trip with a record of two wins, and one loss. "Three games in three days caught up with us today, we came out flat," said Chill Head Coach Tony Colistro. "The Thunder capitalized on their one opportunity, and we were unable to create any of our own," rued Colistro.

Chill win 2 away games

THUNDER BAY, ON ------ June 6, 2010  ---  The Thunder Bay Chill won both Thunder Bay Chillthere Friday and Saturday away games.

The Thunder Bay Chill opens their season with a lopsided win over the Kansas City Brass. The Chill put in six unanswered goals in a 6-1 win at William Jewel College in Liberty, Missouri.

Gustavo Oliviera opened the scoring in the 7th minute and the Chill never looked back. Oliviera and strike partner Brandon Swartzendruber ended the game with two goals and one assist each.
