THUNDER BAY, -------- November 16, 2009 ------ a benefit in honor of my sister Valorie Bobrowski - Donaldson . She is 44 years old, a wife, mother of two, daughter, daughter-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend.
Recently her world came crashing down when she was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Her family then travelled with her to Toronto for a biopsy only to discover that the tumour was highly cancerous and inoperable due to the size and location. Doctors then informed us that an aggressive chemo and radiation schedule was the only available course of action. As a result of the tumour's size and location, basic functions we take for granted everyday such as sight, hearing, speech, balance and memory are rapidly deteriorating.
Peter Humeniuk, Artist in Residence, presenting a watercolour painting to Valentina Bobrowski for a benefit in honor of her sister Valorie. Her sister, Tina said, "Our family is organizing this benefit to assist Valorie and her family with their increasing expenses related to the 24 hour care that she now requires. We have some great prizes totalling so far up to about 5,000.00 dollars. There is a big screen HD1080,42" Plasma LG,T.V, a trip to go see Mamma Mia in Minneapolis with 2 nights accommodations through Happy Time Tours, a free nights stay at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino, 2 golf packages from Dragon Hills golf course, golf shirts, gift certificates for fine dining , and shopping. The door prize in a weekend for 2 at the Victoria Inn in the Jacuzzi Suite. Also a Boston Bruins hockey Jersey donated from Just Jersey's (worth $300.00), plus a beautiful original watercolor painting from Peter Humeniuk! We are still accepting donations and are expecting the rest in the next few days. It has been a wonderful response from the community. Again, I Thank-you for all of your support."
